Samantha Crosman came through in the clutch for the University of Southern Maine softball team.
The former Marshwood High School standout from South Berwick, Maine, went 6-for-8 with four RBIs in a recent doubleheader sweep of UMass-Boston.
Crosman went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in a 10-0 win in the opener and scored the go-ahead run in the ninth inning of the second game.
She also knocked in the winning run with a sacrifice fly to deep center field to secure a 9-8 victory over Eastern Connecticut and another doubleheader sweep.
Dover’s Isaiah Bolden, a freshman on the Plymouth State University men’s outdoor track and field team, was named track Rookie of the Week in the Little East Conference for a pair of top-five finishes in a meet at Fitchburg State.
He finished second in the 110-meter high hurdles with a personal best time of 16.05 seconds. He also took fifth out of 79 runners in the 100 dash with a time of 11.23 to qualify for the New England Division III Championships.
Bolden previously met the standard in the hurdles, and is the only member of the squad to qualify in two events.
Rye’s Jeffrey Heinz continues his solid season out of the bullpen for the Lesley University baseball team. He most recently pitched one inning of shutout relief in a win over Eastern Nazarene.
Heinz leads the Lynx in earned-run average (2.93), saves (2) and opponents’ batting average (.176). Overall, he is 1-0 in 14 appearances with nine strikeouts and three walks.
Dover’s Molly St. Germain pitched a two-hitter as the Keene State College softball team blanked Plymouth State, 6-0, to complete a doubleheader sweep.
She allowed only a pair of singles and helped her own cause at the plate with a solo home run. St. Germain retired the last 13 batters she faced.
Barrington’s Lauren Jones had a single and a double for the University of New England softball team as the Nor’easters split a doubleheader with Plymouth State.
Dover’s Kylie McFadden scattered five hits over five scoreless innings for the Saint Joseph’s College softball team in a 5-2 victory over Bowdoin.
She also pitched a 1-0 shutout against Saint Joseph of Connecticut, giving up four hits and striking out two over seven innings.
