 Comedian Mr Os passes away due to lung cancer

Kucing Serawak, Actor and comedian Mohd Yusof Abdul Hamid (pix), better known as Mr Os, has passed away due to lung cancer. He was 65. 

Mr Os breathed his last at about 2.50pm on Friday at the Selayang Hospital here. 

His son Mohd Hafizul Mohd Yusof, 20, said his father had been warded since Monday after feeling weak and short of breath.  

"My father had been very ill since Monday and was treated at the Selayang Hospital.

"He was able to talk earlier but on Friday morning, he looked really weak and could only nod and shake his head," said Mohd Hafizul, adding that his father was unable to work in the past few weeks.  

"Before he passed away, he had a lot of messages for my siblings and I, and they were mainly religious messages," Mohd Hafizul told the Star Media Group’s Malay-language portal mStar Online. 

The actor’s body will be brought to his Gombak home before being buried later at the Bukit Permata Muslim Cemetery. 

Mr Os began his career as an actor in the 1986 film Balik Kampung before taking the lead role in Mr Os in 1987, which saw him being compared with comedians like Sheila Rusly, Salih Yaakob and Datuk Aziz Sattar. 

He starred in the 1988 Indonesian horror film Bisikan Arwah with Hussein Abu Hassan, Puteri Salbiah and Latif Ibrahim and was nominated in the Best Supporting Male Actor category at the 9th Malaysian Film Festival for his performance as a youth with autism in the movie Adik.
